Moray Eels
To breath they open and close their mouths to force water over their gills.

And, as you can see, they can be fairly sociable. They can be fairly territorial too, but it’s easy for them to get used to other eels, or even entirely different animals; they can be tamed and love to be petted. Some divers “befriend” wild ones who come to greet them and get cuddles even for years.
The bigger ones can easily bite your fingers off, sure, but the same goes for some dogs. They just don’t know their strength :(

HOLY SHIT THESE PRECIOUS BABIES..

Gravity Falls : Little Gift Shop of Horrors; Roughs to finished sculpted pieces.

Sorry for the delay on these but here is my rough concepts and designs for the stop-motion portion of this episode. This was the first time my work has been translated for stop-motion and it was pretty exciting. Stoopid Buddy did the sculpts and Alex even gave me a souvenir for my hard work. It’s sitting on top of my animation desk forever now.

also there’s the “Why?” monster, which might be the creepiest thing I’ve designed yet.

Robertryan Cory’s designs for the “clay” monstrosities in our Ray Harryhausen tribute “Clay Day!”

Animated amazingly by the hard working geniuses at Stoopid Buddy Studios!  (I have to call them hard working geniuses to make up for calling them anti-social shut-ins in the show)  But seriously- they did phenomenal work!

The Mystical World Of Mushrooms Captured In Photos

Most people consider mushrooms to be the small, ugly cousins of the plant kingdom, but theirs is  surprisingly beautiful and wonderful world waiting to be explored. These beautiful mushrooms, captured by enthusiastic nature photographers, are a far cry from the ones you find in the woods or your local grocery store.

Most mushrooms, as we know them, are actually just the reproductive structure of the fungus they belong to – their fungal networks expand far further underground, and some fungi don’t even sprout the sort of mushrooms that we’re used to seeing. In fact, depending on your definition of “organism,” the largest living organism in the world is a fungus – there’s a honey mushroom colony in Oregon that occupies about 2,000 acres of land!
